The Nadorcott mandarin tree was discovered in Morocco in the 1980s in the collections of INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique), then selected and isolated by Les Domaines Agricoles in the 1990s. This mandarin is a natural hybridization of the Murcott mandarin (mandarin x orange).
